Push the Button

Mrs. Leahy reports that when she was at the polls, a worker told her there have been problems with the touch screens. What sort of problems?

A number of people, it seems, have forgotten to press the final "VOTE" screen, which registers their choices. She asked the poll worker whether they could press the screen and was told no, all they could do was clear the machine...so the votes are not counted.

Which is somewhat dumbfounding to me, as it's seemed nearly impossible for anyone to miss the very large "VOTE" screen at the end...and that the workers offered their help if anyone had a question. Then again, technology is only as smart as the people who use it. And it appears that in some cases, the intelligence of voters leaves something to be desired.
