The List Grows Shorter

Another member of the old crowd is bowing out of the blogging business.

...The Jaded JD will be closing its doors by September 1. Unfortunately, when I stop paying TypePad, TypePad will cease to display my content. So, if there's anything you want, like a spreadsheet about the Virginia budget or a copy of the Gilmore car tax letter, or some old maps based on NLS predictions, get them now. The liquidation sale ends August 31.

This is a genuine loss not only to those of us who have been around for what, in blog years, is nearly an eternity, but to the entire Virginia 'sphere. Read the entire post to see why this is so.

And it's probably not the last departure we shall see.

"You know what the fellow said: In Italy for 30 years under the Borgias they had warfare, terror, murder and bloodshed, but they also produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and the Renaissance. In Switzerland they had brotherly love -- they had 500 years of democracy and peace, and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock." -- Orson Welles, The Third Man

"The graveyards are full of indespensable men" -- Charles de Gaulle

"Oh, so Mother Nature needs a favor? Well maybe she should have thought of that when she was besetting us with droughts and floods and poison monkeys. Nature started the fight for survival and now she wants to quit because she's losing. Well I say, hard cheese!" -- Montgomery Burns
