Bulletin Board

Catching up in the wake of a by-now patented Blogger meltdown, here are a few notes:

1. LTG Bill Bolling will make a luncheon address to bloggers at the Sorensen Conference on Saturday the 17th. It's good to see both Bob McDonnell and Bolling will be there. Now the trick will be if Alton can get Tim Kaine to speak at the alterna-conference in Martinsville and complete the trifecta.

2. My thanks to Waldo for passing on the creeping crud that's blasting its way through my sinuses. I haven't coughed like this in a long time.

3. The next Tuesday Morning Group meeting will be at the Bull & Bear Club in Richmond (10 a.m., and the pastries are great). If you're a Richmond area blogger with a conservative bent (that means you, Nick...and Jason and Shaun and Flora), then make sure to attend. On the agenda: how a group of underfunded conservative challengers swept to victory in Pennsylvania's legislative primaries. I won't be able to attend because of a crazy thing called work. So I'm looking for reports!

4. Webb or Miller? Don't know. Don't care.

"You know what the fellow said: In Italy for 30 years under the Borgias they had warfare, terror, murder and bloodshed, but they also produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and the Renaissance. In Switzerland they had brotherly love -- they had 500 years of democracy and peace, and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock." -- Orson Welles, The Third Man

"The graveyards are full of indespensable men" -- Charles de Gaulle

"Oh, so Mother Nature needs a favor? Well maybe she should have thought of that when she was besetting us with droughts and floods and poison monkeys. Nature started the fight for survival and now she wants to quit because she's losing. Well I say, hard cheese!" -- Montgomery Burns
