Wearing a Tie and Talking About Blogs
So I wore a tie to the TMG Coalition meeting today. I figured it was the least I could do, considering Bob McDonnell was going to be there to update folks on the recount.
But seriously, McDonnell seemed far more relaxed -- even somewhat confident -- than a man who has, so far, won a statewide election by the most insignificant of margins.
But he's moving ahead, delving into the AG's budget, looking at staff, and filing bills for the next GA session. He made his intention to address property rights and regulatory reform abundantly clear.
Now there are some who have wondered on this blog why McDonnell would want to dirty his hands speaking before a group like TMG when he should be running to the middle as fast as he possibly can.
McDonnell said it himself: he was pleased to be able to address a group of conservative leaders, people who had supported him, and who would continue to support him in the years ahead.
Oh, and there was some talk of blogging.
First things first: I've known John Taylor for 12 or 13 years. He still mispronounces my last name...even after repeated correction.
I covered a lot of ground in a very short amount of time and believe the most interesting and useful information came from Shaun and Rick.
Striking to me was the number of people at the meeting who read blogs. Almost everyone in attendance is a reader. And that's a heartening sign. Also, one attendee who was sitting next to me says she and her group intend to start a blog. Their issue is illegal immigration, and their target is the Herndon town council. That will be a lively read.
But perhaps the biggest convert was John Taylor. I've been trying to sell the idea of a blog that's devoted exclusively to the Freedom & Prosperity Agenda. It would link TMG Coalition members from across the state together and keep them in fairly close communication with one another throughout the GA session and beyond.
He likes the idea and wants to talk more about it. I think it could be big.
