OMT One Man's Trash...from Norman Leahy

That's the only way I can describe the Kilgore-bot who approved a phony mailer allegedly from Russ Potts and sent to Democratic lists.

I still haven't seen the mailer (though someone has said they will send me one). And I'm eager to see it. I'm eager to see how it matches up against the now-sanctioned Kaine mailer. But even more, I want the Kilgore campaign to explain what possessed them to put a deceitful mailer like this out there in the first place. Was it fear? Was it anger? I'd like to know. And don't tell me it's because politics is a rough business. I know that. But just because it's rough doesn't mean you have to sling mud with your opponent in the gutter. I thought you might be better than that.

So I hope the Kilgore campaign is ready with its $100 fine (payable to the State Board of Elections). And I hope they are prepared for a Commonwealth Attorney's investigation as well.

Have I mentioned how much I miss George Fitch?

"You know what the fellow said: In Italy for 30 years under the Borgias they had warfare, terror, murder and bloodshed, but they also produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and the Renaissance. In Switzerland they had brotherly love -- they had 500 years of democracy and peace, and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock." -- Orson Welles, The Third Man

"The graveyards are full of indespensable men" -- Charles de Gaulle

"Oh, so Mother Nature needs a favor? Well maybe she should have thought of that when she was besetting us with droughts and floods and poison monkeys. Nature started the fight for survival and now she wants to quit because she's losing. Well I say, hard cheese!" -- Montgomery Burns
