When the Going Gets Tough...

...call in B'nai B'rith. Tim Kaine keeps firing back at Kilgore's death penalty ads, bringing in Tommy Baer (a Richmonder and Kaine donor), the former head of B'nai B'rith and Alexandria Rabbi Jack Moline. Baer comes out swinging for the fences:

says Kilgore's actions goes beyond the pale and was strategically timed to run just before Yom Kippur, the most sacred Jewish holiday.

If you're going to swing, swing hard. I believe the ad will run past Yom Kippur (which was Thursday). It may run until Succoth (on the 18th). It may even run until Simchat Torah, on the 26th. The center of gravity is November 8th -- election day. And that set the timing of the ad.

From what I understand, reporters on the call murmured their approval of this latest retort. And, sure as the sun rises in the east, Kilgore got Rep. Eric Cantor on the line with (probably the same group) of scribes to offer a different view.

The write-ups should be deeply edifying.
