The Bloodbath in 2006
Wednesday, October 19, 2005 :::
At yesterday's TMG meeting, the general consesus was that the 2006 General Assembly session will feature a nasty fight over taxes once again. This time it will be over transportation, and the indication (confirming Jim Bacon's sources) is that some in the Senate, lead by John Chichester, have a $2 billion tax plan ready to go.
At least the recognition that there will be a fight is broadening. But is there any energy to fight it? And even more, if Kaine wins in November -- and he has already signed on to the Chichester plan -- is there any hope of stopping it?
